Caribbean: a sailing holiday on a charter yacht

Lesser Antilles

Caribbean

The Caribbean is the most beautiful and welcoming destination one can imagine, even during our cold and foggy winter months.

They can be reached, at reasonable prices, by scheduled or charter flights departing from major Italian cities, with final destination Martinique, St. Martin, Antigua or Grenada — or any other island, thanks to island-linking internal flights.

After some minor formalities, all is set for splendid cruises along the numerous routes through this wonderful corner of paradise.

Rich vegetation covers these islands with indescribable colours.

The larger ones receive more rain from the clouds passing by at higher altitudes, and as a result, every type of exotic fruit grows here almost spontaneously, also adorning the villages where we shall drop anchor to spend the night and get ample supplies of juicy local produce.

High coconut trees reach out over the sea; they offer shade to those who, satiated by sun-bathing, seek coolness for a nap; white and cool coral beaches, easily reached with our tender, lend themselves for play, walks, sun-bathing and swimming.

The water in the Caribbean is always very warm, and its colours range from very light green to darkest blue.

Thousands of multicoloured fish dance about around the coral reefs, for the pleasure of those who, with snorkel mask and flippers, choose to let the waves cradle them.

Fish is also a main constituent of the diet, of course, on board as well as in the little restaurants on land.

Lobster is the main dish — there is plenty here! — and local fishermen sell it right after collecting, directly from their small fishing boats.

Finally, the wind deserves mention, too.

In the Caribbean it is the skipper's good friend: never too strong nor too weak, blowing from the East, slightly tending towards North or towards South, depending on the season.
